Presentation

A presentation on the University of Calgary Solar Car was made by solar car team members:

Jason Workman (VA6JCW)
Shawn Zwierzchowski, VA6SBZ
Scott Nesbitt (VE6SJN)

The solar car team participated in the Australian Solar Car Challenge, a 3000km race from Darwin to Adelaide. Challenges included an accident during the track practices that left the car missing 25% of its solar array. During the race itself, the team experienced road-side bush fires, cloudy weather, two flat tires, and intermittent electrical faults. Despite these challenges, the team managed in finishing 8th in the Challenge Class, and placed 1st of the Canadian teams.

The team will be participating in the North American Solar Challenge which takes place in July. The race starts in Texas and is expected to finish in Calgary on July 23rd.
