Ian is a Sales and Marketing Professional employed in the computer
industry in Calgary. He has been involved in Rocketry for about 6 years,
and quickly moved from model rockets to High Power Rocketry. Every high
powered flight and most mid-power (E-G motors) flights of Ian's has
featured avionics and dual deployment recovery systems. Most recently,
Ian achieved his CAR Level 4 certification with a 14,000 foot flight on a
highly modified Yank BBX kit.
During 2005, Ian held the position of President of the Canadian
Association of Rocketry (CAR), after previously serving as the Vice
President of the Calgary Rocketry Association.
To support the activities of the ATHA Aerospace group, Ian took the
Amateur Radio Operators course at the Calgary Aerospace Museum and in
the winter of 2004, passed the test and took the callsign VE6IMS. Since
then, amateur radios have been a huge part of the ATHA Aerospace ground
operations.
