S-40

The 1946 S-40 is a Raymond Loewy repackaged S20R SKY CHAMPION of 1939-45. It also has the smooth lines of the S-38.

Examples of the S-40 had white dials (amber with age). The S-40A dial was green. There were very minor value changes to capacitors and resistors. Tubes used were the same as in the SKY CHAMPION but, the electrodynamic speaker in the S-20R was changed to a PM type.

There were several variation S-40 and S-40U - 1946-49, S-40A and S-40AU - 1949-50, S-40B and S-40BU - 1950-55, S-51 - 1947, S-52 - 1948-50, S-77 - 1950-51 and S-77A - 1952-55.
