Chapter 151- Wild Rose Alberta Greetings from Chapter 151, Alberta Canada, your 2006 QCWA Convention hosts. We had luncheon meeting on September 17th. There were a total of 20 members, friends and guests present. A third meeting of the QCWA National Convention (September 28-30, 2006) planning committee will be held shortly. Details on this convention can be found in the Fall 2005 issue of the QCWA Journal. The registration form will be published in the Spring 2006 QCWA Journal. For convention updates visit the web site: QCWA Convention-2006 One of our Chapter 151 mandates is Youth Education i.e. Radio Amateurs of Canada Youth Education program (YEP). Because of our connections we were able to use the Chestermere Lake High School grounds for this year’s Field Day. This arrangement between the Calgary Amateur Radio Association and Brian Jackson, VE6JBJ will create more awareness of the RAC YEP. Since school teacher Brian Jackson, VE6JBJ has transferred to Airdrie, Alberta we look forward to sponsoring this new school. Also there is a grade 8 student and one of the staff interested in acquiring their license so the Chestermere station will likely be kept in place. We have received word from our school ISS application of future dates for the proposed contacts from Chestermere to the International Space Station. These dates range from November 21, 2005 to March 27, 2006. We will be picking three of the proposed seven dates shortly and the station will be kept on the air until after these contacts. The luncheon program consisted of a Video Presentation, titled RADON GAS-WHAT IS IT? It explained Radon Gas. It’s characteristics and affects on your well being. If Radon Gas exists in your home and is left unchecked, it could cause various health issues.
