QCWA WILD ROSE CHAPTER 151
Greetings from Chapter 151, Alberta, Canada, your 2006 QCWA Convention hosts.
We had a luncheon meeting on April 23rd. There were a total of 42 members, friends and guests present. The second meeting of the QCWA National Convention (September 28-30, 2006) planning committee was held on March 30, 2005. An ad outlining plans to date can be found in this QCWA Journal. Another meeting of the committee is planned for September, 2005 and the registration form will be published in the spring, 2006 QCWA Journal. For convention updates visit the web site
The Chestermere Lake Middle School RAC Youth Education Program (YEP), with the ham station, could be moved to Airdrie as grade six science teacher Brian Jackson, VE6JBJ, has been transferred to the Airdrie Ralph McCall school. Brian however wishes to make an application to RAC YEP to sponsor a new station at Airdrie and is tentatively working with other teachers and interested students to take over and continue with the YEP at Chestermere Lake Middle School under our leadership. The ham station will be kept at Chestermere Lake until word is received about the application to contact the International Space Station (ISS) and until after that contact.
There has been interest indicated by Bishop Grandin High School to set up an amateur station.
A Teen/Kids net was started on January 12th, 2005 by Tyler McCoy, VE6TGM, each Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. on the FARS repeater VA6CTV (145.290 -600).
The luncheon program by Don Moss, VE6APT, was as reported in the last Journal. He discussed taking videos of news and sports events (e.g. the Olympics) and discussed the change to HDTV (High Definition TV). The next development will be 3D TV.
Ken Oelke, VE6AFO, our president attended the Calgary area Flea Market looking for new members. Attached is a photo of Ken at his QCWA display with a ham applying for membership.
