QCWA CHAPTER 151President Oelke asked for a volunteer to be interim Secretary until the AGM and yours truly took up the challenge. A discussion was held on putting together a program to promote Amateur Radio to youth groups in schools, churches, Scouts and Girl Guides etc. It was felt the QCWA was the right organization to introduce the hobby to future younger members. A motion was passed to make a donation to QSL.Net for the free server space for our web site www.qsl.net/ve6afo. QSL.Net is owned and operated by Al Walker, K3TKJ. The Luncheon meeting ended with a program on Tropospheric Scatter Radio Systems given by Al McNeil VE7BJA. On April 26, 2003 Chapter 151 manned a QCWA table at the local Fleamarket in Calgary. It was during one of the worst winter days in Calgary with snow up to the knees and roads closed everywhere, but 120 dedicated hams showed up anyway. Also a Fleamarket in Red Deer, much better weather, on June 14. On June 22, 2003 one of our QCWA Life Members Al Simpson,VA6AS became a Silent Key. A memorial service was held June 26, 2003 in Calgary and QCWA Chapter 151 was represented. Al's 50 and 55 year Anniversary Awards as a licensed radio amateur was on display during the service, the awards were to be presented during the next AGM September 20, 2003. A reminder to Wild Rose Chapter members to circle their calendars for the AGM to be held September 20, 2003 at 11:00am to 2:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion #264 (Kensington Road NW) in Calgary. Guests are always welcome. Al McNeil,VE7BJA
