WILD ROSE CHAPTER 151,ALBERTA

Greetings from the Wild Rose Chapter in Alberta, Canada. As the new Secretary of Chapter 151 it is my pleasure to report on QCWA activities in this area.

We had a luncheon with the annual general meeting at the Royal Canadian Legion #264 on September 25, 2004. Ken Oelke, VE6AFO, described how the Chestermere Lake Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) Youth Education Program is progressing. The Grade Six science teacher Brian Jackson, VE6JBJ has brought amateur radio (VHF, UHF&IRLP) to the classroom using our donated dual bander and antenna but still has to pass the code to add HF contacts.

The program was an interesting video presentation on the 3B9C DX Expediton on Rodriguez Island.

The first meeting of the planning committee for the QCWA National Convention was held at Devry Institute on October 7, 2004. The Convention hotel will be the PORT O’CALL Inn, Calgary. The Inn is across the street from the Calgary Aero Space Museum. There will be Friday and Saturday evening buffets, tours of interesting areas, a hospitality suite and seminars. A logo has been designed lapel pins are now available.
