A big Hello from Chapter 151 Calgary Alberta, hosts of the 2006 QCWA Convention.

Our most recent news is the successful turn up of a new Amateur Station at a local Middle School. Our chapter has sponsored the donation of equipment and antennas to the school (and the science teacher getting his ticket) and finally they are on the air and have talked to other places and other schools. We are quite excited about the Radio Amateurs Canada Youth Education Program and are once again searching out another local school so we can do it all over again.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Tim Ellam, VE6SH, one of our very own who is the new International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Vice President effective May 9, 2004. With Tim as second in command, the world of amateur radio is in good hands. See attached picture of Tim Ellam.

Finally, we have a luncheon meeting planned for Saturday May 8 in Calgary with a presentation titled "Rubbing shoulders with famous Astronauts". The presenter is a grade 11 student who spent two weeks on a youth program at the Johnston Space Center.
